As a federally designated distressed area, Tacoma is in urgent need of dynamic, relevant leadership for local youth and families. The Northwest Leadership Foundation exists to strengthen and develop leadership for the spiritual and social renewal of cities of the Pacific Northwest. This AmeriCorps team will consist of 34 full-time, 10 reduced half-time, and 11 full-time summer members who will provide support to mentoring and tutoring programs and assist youth at risk of long term suspension and truancy. This AmeriCorps project will impact 450 youth and engage 400 volunteers.
