With the assistance of the 2011 AmeriCorps Indian Tribes Planning grant, CMN proposes to develop an academic support and mentoring program with local public and private K-12 schools to prepare students for higher education. To develop this program CMN will:
1. Hire a Youth Program Leader. This position will be responsible for overall program planning and management, including partnering with Menominee Indian School District and Menominee Tribal School to develop the academic support and mentoring program and student referral guidelines. This position will also recruit CMN Education students to serve as mentors and CMN STEM students to serve as tutors, along with setting up the appropriate training required for these volunteer positions.
2. Establish a working committee of the partner organizations, including student volunteers, to assist in the development of the academic support and mentoring program and student referral guidelines.
3. Incorporate 2010 National Performance Measures ED1, ED2, ED3, ED4, ED5, ED9, and ED10 into the program plan to provide measures for the development of the program and program evaluation once the program is implemented.
