First Lady Michelle Obama Issues Call to Service to Nation's Volunteer Leaders (photo)

CAPTION: Speaking to a record-breaking 5,000 attendees, First Lady Michelle Obama called on all Americans to participate in our nation's renewal and recovery in a keynote address at the opening session of the National Conference on Volunteering and Service at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, CA. The opening plenary featured a star-studded lineup of elected officials and popular culture figures including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, California First Lady Maria Shriver, Chairman of the Board for Points of Light Institute Neil Bush, Arianna Huffington, Kerry Washington, Matthew McConaughey and an inspirational performance from Jon Bon Jovi, who stated that, 'We're going to be the ones that make volunteerism hip. Together, and with the power of 'WE', we can start a revolution one soul at a time.'

Corporation for National and Community Service Teams With Microsoft on National Student-Driven Virtual Helpdesk (photo)

CAPTION: The Corporation for National and Community Service today announced a collaborative initiative with Microsoft Corp.'s U.S. Partners in Learning to design and establish a new national, student-driven virtual helpdesk for K-12 teachers and non-profits. Over the next three years, Microsoft and CNCS will create a program which aligns a student service opportunity with President Obama's United We Serve initiative. It will focus on giving students real-world learning experiences as they support non-profits and teachers who are using technology in the classroom.

Washington Nationals Take AmeriCorps Out to the Ball Game During AmeriCorps Week (photo)

CAPTION: AmeriCorps members, alums, and friends will be on hand to cheer the Washington Nationals baseball team on May 16 when the Nats face the Philadelphia Phillies. The evening marks the close of AmeriCorps Week, an annual event honoring the contributions that AmeriCorps members make to our country. As many as 600 AmeriCorps supporters are expected to attend the game.
