Foster Grandparent Volunteer Char who serves at Lincoln Elementary in Cadillac, Mich. continues to spread kindness to students even during the COVID-19 pandemic, which is keeping volunteers away from school. Char made encouraging cards to uplift, shared smiles and encouraged students this year. She decorated cards with drawings and positive messages. Those cards were given to her school and their social worker made sure to pass them out to students throughout their school. Char cares deeply for the children at the school she has been serving at since 2011. Char started as a Foster Grandparent in 2008 and is devoted to helping children in her community.

Char helped bring some joy to students even while serving from home. Char even went above and beyond to make some encouragement cards for staff at Lincoln Elementary. She knew that staff has had a difficult year as well and could use a smile and know how they are appreciated. Currently, Char is working on birthday cards for students at the school. We love our partnership with Lincoln Elementary and Char is spreading joy, smiles and support to students even when times are challenging.
