Abstract:

Have you ever wondered how large your sample size needs to be for obtaining reliable evaluation evidence? Have you wondered what statistical power means?  This webinar is a 3-Level series on using statistical power for evaluation:

Level I: Defining and Understanding Statistical Power Analysis
The first level training webinar is an introductory class that focuses on the concept of statistical power and explains why it’s an important tool for evaluation planning.

Level II: Basic Mechanics of Power Analysis
The second level training webinar covers the basic mechanics of power analysis and provides technical content on how each error type threatens a study and how power is the complement of Type 2 error.

Level III: Applied Power Analysis
This third level training module focuses on applied power analysis. It also covers examples for common designs and offers a tutorial on how to use the analysis charts to calculate the power analysis for evaluation.

Closing Remarks: Carrie Markovitz, Ph.D., Principal Research Scientist, NORC

Q&A Discussion: Facilitated by Andrea Robles, Ph.D., Research and Evaluation Manager, AmeriCorps ORE
