Scott Hefter joined AmeriCorps in 2020 to oversee and strengthen the agency’s operational effectiveness. Prior to joining AmeriCorps, he was a Fellow at Harvard University’s Advanced Leadership Initiative – a program for senior executives to study solutions to large-scale societal problems. Hefter’s capstone project focused on national service as a “bridge to national healing, national pride, and a nod to our better angels.”
Hefter has more than 30 years of experience in organizational design, business transformation, and operations. He was named by Consulting Magazine as a "Top 25 Most Influential Consultant" in 2012, and has worked across the private, public, and social sectors in more than 20 countries during his career. Scott is a graduate of Connecticut College and received his Master of Business Administration degree from Rutgers University.
