Amelia became an AmeriCorps member after graduating high school. She decided to to take a gap year due to the pandemic and chose to serve.
Amelia moved across the country, from Vermont to California, to volunteer with Preschool Service Corps where she tutors preschool-aged children in language and literacy.
“AmeriCorps was one of the few programs that increased gap year and volunteer opportunities. And, service members are needed now more than ever. My experience has been eye-opening. I am immersed in a new culture, a bilingual environment, and I feel the importance of the work I am doing, not to mention it is so much fun!”
