The Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University greatly values the unique perspective AmeriCorps alumni contribute to public health through their past experiences working with local communities. In recognition of this service and ongoing commitment to community, RSPH will provide a one-time educational award match in the amount of $5,000 per student for graduates of AmeriCorps or an AmeriCorps-affiliated program who are admitted to the Master of Public Health or Master of Science in Public Health degree program. This award is applied over 3 or 4 semesters of full-time enrollment (depending upon your program plan). Program participation will be evaluated on an annual basis.

To be eligible, students must indicate they are AmeriCorps Service Members on the SOPHAS application and be admitted to the full-time MPH or MSPH degree program. Awardees must complete a minimum of 1 year of service (1700 full time hours) with AmeriCorps or an AmeriCorps affiliated agency before they begin their degree program at RSPH. If you also qualify for the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award or AmeriCorps/VISTA educational award, you may use this award at any point during your enrollment and may choose to apply it to one semester or multiple semesters. Please see the AmeriCorps stipulations for use of the AmeriCorps Educational Awards here: http://www.americorps.gov/for_individuals/alumni/education_award.asp.

Students who are provided with the match award are encouraged to participate in the AmeriCorps Service Leaders student group. As part of this group, AmeriCorps Service Leaders represent a part of the important culture of service at RSPH and Emory. Leadership in this group includes participation, organization and promotion of service activities on campus and in the local Atlanta community. This unique program allows service members to apply the skills learned through AmeriCorps and provide an opportunity for the continuation of service to the community through the public health program.
